Barratt Homes Meet the Expert February Events

January is over, the first month of the year always feels never-ending.  After the excitement of the festive period (not to mention the long wait between pay days!), we greet February with a lot of enthusiasm.

For Team MFS, we are back on the road to Scottish Highlands with Barratt Homes.  In February we will be on site to provide expert mortgage and insurance advice in purchasing your next home.   Now, more than ever, navigating mortgages and insurances with the help of a qualified advisor is important.  Without a doubt, mortgage rates are slowly decreasing.  We’ve blogged about this before, with our Director, Cameron McLean, sharing his thoughts on 2023, read it here.

At each event, our Advisor is there to give bespoke mortgage and insurance advice to you.  We will look at the specifics of the plot(s) you’re interested in.  Taking time to consider your needs, budget and requirements, our Advisor will work out your affordability and options for purchasing your new-build home.

The Barratt Homes Sales Advisor will be on hand to answer questions about the plot, reservation details, future release dates, development of the site and any current incentives.

What will our Advisor ask you?

Before getting into the nitty-gritty, our Advisor will get to know you a bit.  If you’re in a rush, let them know and they can get straight to working out the figures for you.  Whether you’re just perusing the sites for a potential new home or you’ve got your heart set on a certain plot, our Advisors will need to know the following:

  • Your income (basic, bonus/commission, car allowance, shift rates)
  • Size of deposit and where it’s coming from (sale of property, Bank of Mum and Dad etc)
  • What your outgoings currently are

That’s really it, the affordability is worked out depending on your circumstances.  The Advisor can work out different scenarios, as there’s no standard journey for buying a property.  Our service is bespoke to you.  Our Advisor will aim to give you all the information to make that reservation on that one plot you’ve set your heart on.

If you’d like to arrange another time to chat about your mortgage, our Advisor can book you in for a suitable time.  We’d prefer not to rush such an important decision.

Why buy a new build home?

A new build home must meet certain energy efficiency standards, meaning your new build home is going to be rated A or B for energy efficiency.  In the current climate of rising costs, it helps to know that your energy bills are looked after with a home that is much more environmentally friendly and less taxing on energy bills.

Barratt Homes are

  • Up to £2,600 cheaper to heat and live in per year.
  • Water use is also 26% less per person per day.

Don’t forget the NHBC guarantee which comes with a new build.  And you have time to create a snag list as the builder will check in on you after you’ve moved in.

Barratt Homes also offer the Armed Forces discount to eligible buyers.  There are other incentives available.  The Sales Advisor for Barratt's will keep you informed.

Findrassie

Barratt Homes’ development, Findrassie, in Elgin, is set within Moray.  An area renowned for its natural beauty and history.  Even the name Elgin means beautiful/worth place.   Findrassie is a development with 3- and 4-bedroom homes, just one mile north of the centre of Elgin.  An ideal place for growing families and those taking the next step on the property ladder.

It’s also little over 20 mins from Findhorn.  This historic village is famous for its coastline and subsequently the water sports.  Its geographic location means it also has a microclimate of its own, being warmer than surrounding areas.   The area is also well known for the Findhorn Bay Arts Festival which runs events throughout the year.  The aim of the festival is to create high-quality and accessible cultural experiences to the communities in Moray.
